Your Trusted Partner in Eye Care
At our practices in Cumnock and Mauchline, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive eye health services. From detailed eye exams to personalised contact lens consultations, we ensure your vision is our top priority.
Eye Examinations
Regular Eye Tests are recommended by all health professionals and in Scotland, this is provided FREE of charge by the NHS annually or every two years, depending on your age. The most important part of our service is your eye examination and nothing concerns us more.
Our Opticians will assess every aspect of your eye health and take time to explain any findings. The eye examination consists of an external examination, followed by specific tests for visual acuity, pupil function, visual fields and intraocular pressure. An eye test at Shaw Eyecare does a lot more than just check what you can see, it can pick up and detect early signs of eye conditions such as glaucoma, infections and cataracts, as well as underlying health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, autoimmune disorders, high cholesterol and thyroid disease

Why Try Contact Lenses?
Contact Lenses are a thin lens placed directly on the surface of the eye. They are worn by 150 million people worldwide, mainly for vision correction but also for cosmetic and therapeutic reasons. Broadly speaking, they are suitable for anyone and at Shaw Eyecare, we have children as young as 6 on our Contact Len Care Plan, right through to those in their 70s and beyond.
In addition to age, vision correction is no longer a limiting factor either. Regardless of whether you are long or short sighted, or even have astigmatism, almost everyone who needs eyesight correction can now wear contact lenses. There are also multifocal options for those who need different lens powers for distance and close work or only have reading glasses.
Children's Eyecare
At Shaw Eyecare, let our family, look after your family.
It might seem like we are stating the obvious but your child’s eyes are so important. We use our eyes constantly to observe, to learn, to interact and to grow into the people we become. Indeed, a staggering 80% of school learning traditionally comes from visual perception and so poor eyesight can have a significant impact on how your child learns and develops.
Myopia Management
Myopia is an eye condition more commonly known as short-sightedness. For people with myopia, distant objects appear blurry. Around 1 in 3 people in the UK are affected by myopia.
